$8.95
By: Pol Medina, Jr. Paper back; Tagalog. 2003; 74 pages of comic strips featuring the Planet of the Dogs
CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE:
Pugad Baboy is a fictional community in Manila where every resident manages to stay fat in spite of economic times. The characters are based on real Filipinos and Filipino families so the pieces are frank and downright funny! Pol Medina, Jr. conceived the strip while on assignment in Iraq during the Gulf War. In 1988, Pugad Baby started out as a comic strip in the Philippine Daily Inquirer. It was such a comedic relief that a serious of books have been published since then.
